Spiral: From the Book of Saw – Chris Rock Takes On Jigsaw Copycat

Whoever edited this trailer deserves a raise.

Spiral: From the Book of Saw

Lionsgate just released the official trailer for Spiral: From the Book of Saw, and I have to say, as far as trailers go, this is fantastic.

Based on the trailer, the film seems to have elements of David Fincher’s Seven, and while the cinematography and direction is nothing like the previous Saw films, they have included enough elements that we know it’s a Saw film (like the glimpse of John Kramer’s picture). It’s been almost a year since the original teaser trailer was released, and while this film may have slipped our minds, this new trailer will keep us excited till the film’s release.

It appears that someone is continuing Jigsaw’s murderous game, and this time, the cops are being targeted. Jigsaw, the previous film in the franchise, ended on a cliffhanger, though it’s unclear if this film will be tying itself firmly back to any of the other movies.

The idea for the movie was conceived by Chris rock, who is also producing and starring in the film. Chris Rock has done so much comedy over the years, it will be interesting to see how he handles a more dramatic role. Joining Rock are a whole host of talented actors, such as Samuel L. Jackson, Max Minghella and Marisol Nichols. The film is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who directed most of the Saw movies, and the screenplay was written by Josh Stolberg & Pete Goldfinger.

The film will be released May 14, 2021.
