For PS5 owners, Spider-Man 2 is definitely the most anticipated game launching by the end of the year, with Insomniac Games continuing the journey of Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they both try to contend with an invasion by Kraven The Hunter’s forces in New York City, and the emergence of the Venom symbiote that has now bound itself to Parker. The two Spider-Men are clearly going to have their work cut out for them in their latest adventure.

With Spider-Man 2 set to launch on PS5 on October 20th, 2023, fans have been wondering what kinds of performance modes and resolution they can expect when they resume web-swinging around New York City once again. Those details might have just been revealed thanks to some leaks, with Spider-Man 2 reportedly boasting the standard options of Fidelity and Performance at launch.

According to the Twitter account (or X account, if you’re feeling spicy) @insider_wtf, who’s been responsible for accurate leaks in the past, Spider-Man 2 will have a Fidelity mode and a Performance mode. The Fidelity mode will run at 30fps, with a 4K base resolution, ray-tracing enabled and other enhanced visual effects, while the Performance mode will run at 60fps with no ray-tracing or other visual effects, but will at least run at an upscaled 4K.

Here’s everything to expect:

Fidelity:
– 30FPS
– 4K base resolution
– Ray-Tracing and additional visual effects

Performance:
– 60FPS
– No Ray-Tracing and additional visual effects
– 4K upscaled

While two visual modes might not sound like a lot at launch, it’s worth mentioning that Spider-Man: Miles Morales was updated after launch to include a Performance RT mode, so it’s possible that Spider-Man 2 will also benefit from a post-launch update that adds ray-tracing to the Performance mode at some point in the future.
