Torches that you make yourself and the comforting UV glow of your lighter in Sons of the Forest are definitely useful, but they aren’t the best ways of exploring the island in the dark. For that, you’re going to want to get your hands on the flashlight.
For us, we most reliably found a flashlight on the bodies of deceased survivors that are located at the purple exclamation marks on the map. Here’s where you can also unlock the ability to place markers on your map.
This is what those places look like.
Press I, then select the flashlight on the right to equip it. Press L to put the flashlight away, and then L again to bring it out.
To replenish batteries in flashlights, simply right click on the flashlight and some batteries (often found at abandoned camps and crash sites), then click on the gear icon to add the batteries into the flashlight.
