Sons of the Forest gives you a variety of gear but discovering them can be tricky and dangerous due to the hostile environment. You can protect yourself with a Firefighter Axe or a Shotgun but one gear item that actually helps you out in sticky situations is the Rope Gun. It is a must-have tool in Sons of the Forest if you want to survive.
The Rope Gun in Sons of the Forest, also known as the zipline gun, is located in a cave that is hidden from plain sight. Do be warned, the cave is very dangerous and you should take your best gear with you if you want to make it out alive.
The Rope Gun in Sons of the Forest can be found in a cave on the west side of the map. The cave is located right between the mountains and the sea and it is close to a spawn point so you should not have too much trouble getting there.
The cave is highlighted in your GPS tracker once you are close to it but we highlighted it in the image above to help you navigate to the area. We recommend avoiding the right side of the cave and taking the route on the left past the trail of the cave workers’ corpses.
Continue past the cave painting and suspended workers and you will walk into a very long passage.
You have to get past quite a few mutant zombies until you reach a fork in the road. Take the path on the left and keep to the right. Carefully take out the zombies along the way.
You will reach a location with a floodlight and stalagmites. Go to the end of the area and you will notice the rope gun ready for the taking. You can use it right away to zipline down the ledge to the exit.
To use the rope gun, you need to craft zipline rope using a set of grappling hooks using the 3D printer, and some resin. You can then combine the grappling hooks with a rope in your inventory to craft a zipline rope. You can also find the Cross in this same cave.
You can make exploration a lot easier by using the zipline rope with your rope gun to escape enemies and avoid dangerous situations. It might not be the most useful tool during exploration but it will come in handy if you want to reach the game’s ending.
