It almost feels surreal that Sons of the Forest is now finally on the cusp of releasing. After being teased all those years ago with barely a whisper heard in-between, the marketing has really begun to crank up for Endnight’s highly anticipated survival game, which has managed to grab the title of Steam’s most wishlisted game. Plenty of people are watching the clock ahead of its Steam release on Thursday, February 23rd, 2023, it seems, especially with such a beloved predecessor and so much hype.
Sons of the Forest is the follow-up to The Forest, which many believe to be the greatest survival game of all time. In this sequel, players can either go it alone with an AI pal or team up with friends to find a missing billionaire on a strange island where cannibals and freakish mutants roam. Expect to build plenty of treehouses and fish for salmon in what is promising to be a significant step up from its predecessor and one of 2023’s biggest hits.
If you’re itching to start playing Sons of the Forest, here’s what time it will release, how much it will cost, and where you can play it.
Sons of the Forest Release Times
You can expect Sons of the Forest to launch into Early Access at the following times on February 23rd, 2023:
– 5PM GMT

Bear in mind that technical issues can push these times back; we’ll update this if that’s the case.
Sons of the Forest Price
There’s no set price for Sons of the Forest just yet, as the game cannot actually be pre-ordered or preloaded.
However, based on other Early Access survival game launches, it will likely cost £24.99/$29.99, then probably increase in price when it launches its 1.0 version. As mentioned, the game was originally planned to release as a full game from day one, but Endnight only expect it to remain in Early Access for 6-8 months before it fully blooms, as it were. Get it? Cos woods, where plants are? Whatever.
Where To Play Sons of the Forest
Sons of the Forest will only be available on Steam — no Epic Games Store or GOG on this one, at least right now.
As for console ports, Endnight don’t have any current plans to bring Sons of the Forest to PS5 or Xbox just yet, but considering how well received the PS4 port of the original was, as well as how desperate console owners are for genuinely good survival games that don’t run terribly, there’s a very high chance we will see something down the line, likely after 1.0 launches on PC.
