Sons of the Forest: Where To Find the Pistol

There’s a lot of changes from The Forest to its sequel, Sons of the Forest. One of the biggest is the introduction of firearms, with the Pistol being one of the first guns that you’ll want to get your hands on.

The pistol can be found in a lifeboat raft out on the south coast of the island, so you’ll have to swim out to get it. Here is its exact location on the map (yellow arrow):

You will first see the Pistol location as a purple exclamation mark on your map, which is where you can also find GPS Locators to help you place map markers. The closer you get, the more your GPS will beep.

The lifeboat isn’t too far from the crashed helicopter or the place where you first wash up. You can actually just follow the coast all the way along to the east and you will see the orange lifeboat off in the distance in the water.

Jump in the water whenever you’re ready; press shift to swim faster. Beware, there is a shark in these waters (at least there was for us), but you should never been in the water long enough for it to kill you.

Get to the lifeboat, then hold E to climb the ladder and get inside. Collect the GPS Locator off the dead mercenary inside along with all of the flares, then find the Pistol near his feet to add it to your inventory and also equip it in your hand. If you can’t find it in your inventory, it’s in the black crate at the top.

The Pistol take 9MM rounds, which can sometimes be found on dead soldiers at abandoned camps. Be sure to look near the blinking icons and the exclamation mark symbols on your map for a rough idea of where to find more places that might have Pistol ammo. Right click to ADS, left click to shoot. Press R to reload.

You should now feel a lot safer going down in those caves, right?

Elsewhere in the spooky, sloppy world of Sons of the Forest, you actually aren’t too far from the 3D Printer if you’ve just picked up the Pistol.
