Finding food in Sons of the Forest isn’t quite as easy as going to the nearest vending machine and chucking a couple of bucks in. You have to find whatever meat and fruit you can on this mysterious island in order to survive, but eating raw meat is a quick way of staying on the island forever. Basically, you will die. Try to avoid that.
To cook raw meat, you first have to build a fire. There are various fires in Sons of the Forest, but the easiest by far requires at least one stick and your lighter. Simply look down with your stick, left click, then follow the rest of the instructions.
With the fire lit, approach it and hold E to get out your cookable items. If you’re really struggling to find meat, you can craft a spear and easily take down the many seagulls around the beach.
Now, all you have to do is watch it cook and wait. Once you know the meat has browned, that’s when you can take it off the fire — it will be called Cooked Meat in your inventory if it’s been cooked through enough.
