Single of the Week: Disciples – ‘They Don’t Know’

When we CULTURED VULTURES pick a new SINGLE OF THE WEEK, it’s always an event, a real weekly event. This week’s pick is no different, in that it’s been a week since the last time and it is a thing that is happening, therefore it is an event. That’s some powerful logic right there.

Anyhow, cold unwavering logic aside, this week’s SINGLE OF THE WEEK really is a doozey, and it comes courtesy of London based trio Disciples. The threesome of producers – Duvall, Luke, and Gavin – have been working together only briefly in the grand scheme of things, but have been doing nothing but making a suitable noise surrounding themselves in that time with impressive tune after impressive tune after, you guessed it, impressive tune.

This latest single, ‘They Don’t Know’, sees them making their mark on 2015 early on, with plenty more marks to be made. This is going to be the year to get them tipping over into the big time. The single itself is a pulsing bit of ultra-contemporary house with a retro-future vibe, splashing itself in a little bit of electro groove, some experimental production, and an indie sensibility. The overall effect is a tune that really gives off the feel of a slow-burning dancefloor hit, as well as a track that’s ripe for some serious night time driving through the city. Sure to be soundtracking your late night brooding for the foreseeable future.

The video keeps up the tension with a cinematic tale of youth gone wild and young romance, featuring a trio of teenagers on the run with drink, drugs, guns, and a bag full of stolen cash, with it all coming to head atop some scenic cliff tops in a good old fashioned standoff.
