Aruni Bio

Following a botched mission in Bangkok alongside Thermite, Aruni was left with facial scars. She departed the Royal Thai Police to focus on her rehabilitation before eventually signing with Nighthaven, an organisation founded by Kali with Wamai and Ace also as members. Following a recommendation from Thermite, Aruni decides to join the Program.

Aruni Weapons

Aruni has two options for her primary weapons: the P10 RONI or Mk 14 EBR. The P10 is a fully-automatic fast-firing SMG that’s also used by Mozzie and is best at close-medium range. With the Mk 14 EBR, however, Aruni becomes the first defender to have a DMR in her loadout with Dokkaebi, an attacker, also having access to the weapon. The Mk 14 EBR isn’t as strong as the other marskman rifles, but it has less damage drop-off from range.

In terms of secondary weapons, Aruni has the PRB92, a solid Beretta-esque pistol with low recoil and a relatively high rate of fire.

“As requested, the Surya Laser Gate has been optimized. The original was less a weapon and more of an alarm system utilizing a laser grid to detect intrusions via specific apertures. When I told Aruni I could adapt some of the tech from Adriano “Maestro” Martello’s CLE-V to enhance her gate’s defensive capabilities, she was enthusiastic.

Given the additional power requirements and heat generation, I replaced the gate’s wiring and insulation. Refitting the prosthetic launcher was the easiest part, though it adds weight to the forearm assembly. I also added a simple IFF system. Allies must carry a security fob, but that’s preferable to being burned to a crisp.

Once in place, the gate projects a laser array capable of detecting anyone moving through it. When an intruder is detected, energy output to the laser increases, causing second- and third-degree burns. We spent nearly an hour tossing everything from wads of paper to pieces of fruit through until we found a setting that maximizes the damage while limiting energy consumption.”

Aruni’s primary gadget is her unique Surya Gates, which act as deterrents for attackers and close off entrances. Surya Gates can be deployed on any kind of window or door frame, creating a laser grid that causes 40 damage to attackers should they walk through it. However, defenders can walk through them safely. Surya Gates can also be deployed on soft walls and hatches.

Attackers cannot destroy the grids, though they can deactivate them temporarily by shooting their generators. Defenders can then reactivate the gates by shooting their generators once they stop sparking.

Alongside this primary ability, Aruni also has a prosthetic left arm that can be used to punch holes in walls, creating peekholes.

Aruni Tips: Attack and Defending

Aruni is a very interesting addition to Siege, working basically like a much more obvious Kapkan. While Kapkan is best for taking breaching attackers by surprise, Aruni is intended to be a deterrent and someone to slow attackers down.

While defending as Aruni, it might be best to use her Surya Gates on windows as it will obscure the vision of attackers even more than usual, as well as prevent straightforward breaching. Additionally, placing the generator at the top of a frame makes it hard for breaching attackers to shoot it compared to if it was deployed on either side of the frame. The Surya Gates will also destroy all utility like grenades and drones, so it’s a very versatile gadget that does a lot of jobs at once.

While attacking a Surya Gate, you actually have quite a lot of ways to tackle them — they have more counters than most gadgets. For one, there’s a small gap at the bottom of each door gate that a drone or grenade can fit through. In addition, the gates are disabled when a defender walks through them, so you could technically walk right in behind a defender. Finally, Finka’s Adrenal Surge will buff health before walking through the gate, essentially allowing you to tank the damage. Also worth bearing in mind that while it will eat up a good portion of your health, it will not leave you critically wounded.
