Severance: Season 2 – Everything You Should Know

Missed the Innies? Well, they're back

2022 was a year with many surprises, and Severance‘s debut on Apple TV+ was certainly one of them. The show’s bizarre story of people having two separate identities during work and at home was a breath of fresh air in a time when most series were getting to become too cliche.

If you thought that was it, well, then Apple TV+ confirmed in April 2022 that the show is indeed coming back for a Severance: Season 2 as the overarching plot remains unfinished, and let’s be honest, the ratings were off the charts to boot. Director Ben Stiller later added the cherry on top by saying that he already envisioned the show as a multi-season series, but before we get ahead of ourselves, here’s the full scoop on the second season.

When Is Severance: Season 2 Coming Out?

While the show was renewed, Severance: Season 2 does not have a release date yet. The filming for the second season is already underway and should be wrapped up by mid-2023. Likewise, a Spring 2024 release date might be what the production is going for.

The first season took nearly 5 years to manifest from just a thought to a full-fledged TV series, but filming lasted only about a year. Severance: Season 2 is already far ahead in development with the script and casting, and filming is reportedly going to be even shorter this time around, so a late 2024 release window is definitely possible.

Creator Dan Erikson also commented on what the story would be like. He said that with the situation of the Innies becoming public, certain changes will take place in the outside world, and doing some much needed worldbuilding was already on the agenda going forward so the story aligns perfectly with what fans wanted as well.

Who Is In The Cast of Severance: Season 2?

Aside from the actors reprising their roles such as Adam Scott as Mark, Zach Cherry as Dylan, Tramell Tillman as Seth Milchik, and Britt Lower as Helly, Dichen Lachman should also return as Ms. Casey since she’s basically the inevitable heroine in distress.

Other supporting characters will be back too, and there are going to be a few new additions. Some of the noteworthy castings for Severance: Season 2 that were announced include Gwendoline Christie, Bob Balaban, and Merritt Wever.

Gwendoline Christie will fit right in with Severance’s mellow and intense tone considering her roles in Game of Thrones and Sandman. In what capacity she’ll star still remains to be revealed, but her being in cahoots with Lumon Industries isn’t a bad thought.

So far there isn’t much information on Severance: Season 2 regarding the plot and what’ll happen, but that’s nothing to worry about because everyone already knows the direction the story is heading in. In time, the Innies will pose a serious threat to Lumon, and when the public starts asking questions, it’s all going to head downhill.
