SEGA Polling Interest In Fist Of The North Star Localisation

Fist of the North Star

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is available right now in the West on PS4, putting players once again in the shoes of Kazuma Kiryu as he cracks skulls in Kamurocho like only he can. But SEGA and the Yakuza development team also released a Fist of the North Star game in Japan last month, and they want to know if the West would be interested.

A survey has been sent to those in the West who’ve purchased the new Yakuza game, asking them straight up if they’d like to see the new Fist of the North Star game localised. The game is titled Hokuto ga Gotoku, which translates to Like A North Star and is a riff on Yakuza’s Japanese title Ryū ga Gotoku, or Like A Dragon. It’s a fitting name, as the gameplay is essentially the same or similar to Yakuza but with the Fist of the North Star license.

The survey question is “While no localization has been announced at this time, how interested are you in the Fist of the North Star game created by the developers of Yakuza?”, to which the correct answer is yes. This isn’t the first time that SEGA have tried to gauge interest in localisation, and their hesitance is unsurprising. Kenshiro’s adventures in gaming have been less than stellar, though the Arc System Works fighting game was solid. Point is, they didn’t sell brilliantly.

Whether or not SEGA actually bring Fist of the North Star, or Like A North Star is up to us, those rabid gaming fans that’ll shout on Twitter about these things. If Shenmue 1 & 2 can get HD remakes, we’re sure SEGA can bring Kenshiro to the West.
