It’s around 3AM on Saturday morning here in the UK, and we’ve stayed up to watch a livestream from the folks over at SEGA, who’ve been teasing a big announcement over the past 24 hours. They certainly didn’t disappoint, as it’s been confirmed that Shenmue 1 & 2 will be getting the HD treatment for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
You've asked, we listened and we're extremely excited to finally announce that Shenmue I & II are coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC in one package! Both games will feature Japanese and English voice overs, the choice of classic or modern controls and more! #ShenmueSaved pic.twitter.com/EvtcEt5pgn

Along with what’s been confirmed in the above tweet, Game Informer state that the game will retain its Dreamcast aesthetics, “but with higher resolutions, improved textures, graphical options on PC, and an updated user interface.” The package is set to be priced at $29.99, which will roughly work out to £25, or 5000 bottle caps post nuclear war.
For anyone who missed out on their chance to explore the world of Shenmue, such as myself, this is the perfect opportunity to fix that, especially with Shenmue 3 still in the pipeline.
Are you excited for Shenmue 1 & 2 HD? Were you hoping for SEGA to announce Virtua Fighter 6 as well? Sound off in the comments below. Speaking of “smash”ing announcements, check out our wishlist for new characters we’d like to see in Super Smash Bros. Not my best segue, but fuck you. It’s 3AM.
