In the main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite, Scorpio Sky regained the TNT Championship after defeating Sammy Guevara in a chaotic ladder match. This win making Scorpio Sky a two-time TNT Champion, having only lost the title a couple of weeks back to Guevara at Battle of the Belts.
Admittedly, this feud has been somewhat disjointed, with the championship being handed back-and-forth between the two competitors, and their crowd dynamics being confusing at best. America’s Top Talent started the rivalry as the defacto heels, being managed by Dan Lambert who has become a perfect villain on the mic. Although, since aligning with his real-life partner, Tay Conti, the fans have truly turned on Sammy, making he and Conti the heels in a matter of weeks. Perhaps this title change is a sign of AEW’s lack of faith in them as top babyface stars?
Throughout the match, both Conti and Paige VanZant got involved, brawling alongside the men as they continued to battle with ladders. Eventually, they were taken out of the mix, allowing Scorpio to eventually pick up the win, much to the crowd’s delight. Fellow wrestlers came to celebrate with Sky to close the show, including former Tag partner, Frankie Kazarian, who has been promised the first shot at the TNT Championship.
