Publisher Athlon Games have announced that SNK’s reboot of Samurai Shodown will be released at some point in June on PS4 and Xbox One, with a Nintendo Switch version set for a release during Q4 2019 and the PC version after that. Check out the official trailer from PAX East below.

The series reboot will be set between Samurai Shodown V and the original game, and the full game will include 16 characters on launch; 13 of which will be returning characters while 3 will be entirely new to the series. Also, because it’s a fighting game after all, there will be more characters available post-launch via DLC.

Perhaps most interestingly, Samurai Shodown will include a Dojo Mode that’ll utilise deep machine learning to create unique Ghost data. Players can then use this system to share their own ghosts online, allowing them to take on the ghosts of top players without the embarrassment of getting blown up on stream.
