Samurai Shodown Coming To The Switch In 2020

Samurai Shodown

SNK Games have announced that this year’s Samurai Shodown, which has been nominated for Best Fighting Game in the 2019 Game Awards, will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch in the first quarter of 2020. Check out the announcement trailer below.

The Switch release will include all 16 characters that were available at launch, with Hisame Shizumaru added as a free character. Meanwhile, fan favourite characters like Rimururu, Kubikiri Basara, Kazuki Kazama, and Wan Fu will make their return to the series as DLC.

The Nintendo Switch version of the game will allow players to experience the excellence of Samurai Shodown on the go, with the table-top mode allowing you to pass the Joy-Con to a friend and have a match anywhere. For those who pre-order the game on the Switch, you’ll also receive Samurai Shodown! 2: Pocket Fighting Series as an added bonus, which was previously only available on the Neo Geo Pocket.

We reviewed Samurai Shodown for the Xbox One earlier this year, and we thought that “Samurai Shodown might just offer the best pure fighting game experience in recent memory, for both veterans and newcomers alike”. Hopefully, the Switch port captures the same magic of the original release. Let us know if you’re excited for Samurai Shodown on the Switch in the comments below.
