Rian Johnson On Why Kylo Ren’s Scar Moved For The Last Jedi

Kylo Ren

Fans pointed out during the world-shattering reveal trailer for Star Wars Episode VII – The Last Jedi that Kylo Ren’s facial scar had moved slightly. After the finale of The Force Awakens, Kylo had a cut across the bridge of his nose, but it’s now just across his eye.

Taking to Twitter, one fan asked the new movie’s director, Rian Johnson, why the scar placement had changed:

So there you have it, the reason as to a small aesthetic change that’s going to tear the Star Wars fandom apart for a long time: it just looked goofy as it was. Both look badass to me, but then again I do have a Harry Potter scar on my forehead so any other scar looks 100% cooler.

If you can bear to live with this heretical act, The Last Jedi debuts on December 15th at cinemas. Having worked in a cinema when the last movie came out, I do not envy anyone in charge of popcorn and hot dogs for about three weeks. It’s going to be murder.
