In case you hadn’t heard, it’s time again for the annual Star Wars celebration in California, and prior to it there had been rumblings that we might get our first proper look at Episode VIII (The Last Jedi).
Those rumours turned out to be well founded, and now we have a whole 2 minutes of tantalising footage to obsess over. It starts slow, with some footage of Rey doing her Jedi workout routine while Luke whispers encouragement, but at around the halfway point we’re thrust into a maelstrom of space battles and explosions. And John Boyega encased in some kind of weird cockpit.
It’s hard to make any early assessments, but the hell with it, I’m going to anyway – it looks dope. Once again it looks like the production team have gone out of their way to take the franchise to new, interesting locations. Let’s just hope it’s all woven together with an equally unfamiliar narrative.
