It has just been announced that Rian Johnson, director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the latest in the new trilogy of films, will be helming a brand-new trio of Star Wars films.
These news films are said to be separate from the Skywalker saga of films and will explore an as-of-yet untouched corner of the Star Wars universe, with brand new characters and lore.
Rian Johnson is set to write and direct the first of the new films, with Ram Bergman set to produce.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set to hit cinemas in December.
No release dates have yet been announced for this brand new trilogy.
