Respawn Dev on Titanfall 3: “There’s Nothing There”

Apex Legends remains the dominant property at Respawn, and Titanfall fans need to reach acceptance.

Respawn, the developer behind battle royale juggernaut Apex Legends, has had their hands full maintaining and updating that game since its launch in early 2019. While Apex Legends has inspired a devoted fanbase, there are many players who still hold a candle for Titanfall, the FPs/mech action franchise that predated Apex.

No news, teases, or leaks have suggested any development of a Titanfall 3 at any point, though Apex Legends being set in the Titanfall universe has been enough for many fans to keep room in their heart to believe a sequel might be coming.

A Respawn dev has thrown some water over these dim embers. Respawn community coordinator Jason Garza, while speaking on a livestream, Garza answered a fan question regarding Titanfall, saying, “Don’t get your hopes up, man. I’ve said this before. We don’t have anything in [the] works. There’s nothing. There’s nothing there. We’ve got too many other games in the works right now.”

Garza clarified that, while there are no plans for future Titanfall titles, Respawn is still looking to fix the hacker-ravaged online landscapes for Titanfall and Titanfall 2. “…We are still working on the current situation, but as always, can really telegraph those moves publicly.”

While this may be disheartening for fans who want more Titanfall action (and who doesn’t?),it is good to hear that Respawn isn’t abandoning the existing Titanfall games entirely. The wheels of game development and game support just move slowly, and invisibly, from a consumer perspective from time to time.

That’s all well and good, but people would really like a Titanfall 3.
