If you’re anything like we were during our playthrough, you’re probably wondering what the Family Photo does in Resident Evil Village.
It’s in your inventory as a key item from the start of the game, but there’s not really anything you can do with it. What makes it more annoying is that it’ll be the only thing in your inventory when you need a key to open a door, or some tool (like the Well Wheel) to collect some treasure.
Don’t worry: the Family Photo does do something, but you won’t need it right away.
After escaping Castle Dimitrescu, the Family Photo will be needed to access House Beneviento, the second main section of the game and where you have to face Angie and Donna Beneviento.
A note near a door on the way to House Beneviento will mention that you have to “give up your memories”, leading you to slide the Family Photo (which is of Mia and Rose, Ethan’s family) through the letterbox so you can access the next area.
Resident Evil Village is available now for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | S, and Xbox One.
