Resident Evil 4 Remake: How To Enable Aim Assist

Resident Evil 4 Remake is one challenging game at times, which is sort of what you’d come to expect from an update to one of the most beloved survival horror games of all time. There’s a lot of ganado to deal with at once, which is made even harder by how much harder it can be to aim under pressure on sticks. Aim assist is your friend in this case.

However, aim assist is only available to those playing on Assisted and Standard difficulties. You cannot use aim assist on Hardcore and Professional difficulty. The main difference between all the difficulties is how aggressive enemies are and how hard they hit, with Professional also only allowing you to manual save.

If you don’t mind playing on the lower difficulties, you can enable (or disable) aim assist by going to Options > Controls and selecting either of these Aim Assist Types:

Snap: snaps to a target when aiming.
Snap and Follow: snaps to a target and tracks them when they move.

The latter is the option you want if you need some assistance when using a controller and works similarly to the default aim assist in games like Call of Duty and Fortnite. You’re also able to change Aim Assist Max Speed, which defines how quickly the camera pans when it’s snapping onto an enemy.

If you’re able, it’s absolutely worth trying Resident Evil 4 without any aim assist as it adds a great deal of tension, especially on the higher difficulties, but remember that you can play any game any way that you want.

Resident Evil 4 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X & S.
