According to Kinda Funny Games’ Imran Kahn, Insomniac Games will release Spider-Man 2 on PS5 during Christmas 2021, a bit longer than 3 years after the release of the first game.
During an episode of the Kinda Funny Gamescast, host Imran Kahn stated that he expects Spider-Man 2 will be released during Christmas 2021, though he didn’t give much in the way of details beyond that. He said, regarding the PS5’s launch line-up: “Spider-Man 2 is probably not coming at launch. I think it’s a Christmas 2021 title. I know too much about this so I can’t speculate too much. I think Spider-Man 2 will come sooner than we think.”
Insomniac’s Spider-Man was a critical and commercial success, so much so that Sony purchased the studio fully, so a sequel was pretty much like Thanos: inevitable. That said, a three year turn out is pretty swift for a game like Spider-Man, even if two years sounds like a long time.
