If you love the gameplay of Rainbow Six Siege but you’re tired of getting destroying by skilled gods who have been playing the game for years at this point, you’re in luck. Today, Rainbow Six Extraction is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S, and it’s even got a day one launch on Game Pass too. Oh, and it’s available on Stadia and Amazon Luna, which is good news for like five people in the world.

What Is Rainbow Six Extraction?

Rainbow Six Extraction is a spin-off to the multiplayer shooter Siege, but instead of pitting teams against each other in PvP, Extraction is a PvE co-op shooter that sees the Rainbow Six operators deal with an alien invasion. If you remember Siege’s Outbreak LTM from back in 2018, Extraction is a fully fledged version of that.

Up to three players are dropped into alien-infested locations known as Incursions, which are comprised of three individual sub-areas. Every area has a randomly assigned objective from a list of 12, and the objective and enemy placements are procedurally generated each mission. Once you’ve completed a sub-area, you can either choose to extract, or risk the safety of your operator and head further in.

Extraction’s key gameplay loop is about risk and reward. Heading to the deeper areas of an incursion will yield much bigger rewards, but will obviously pose a tougher challenge. During an incursion, if your operator is taken out by an enemy, you’ll no longer be able to select them and will be given a chance to rescue them during your next mission, saving the EXP that operator earned.
