Pokémon GO Latios and Latias Raid Weekend: What You Need To Know

Catch yourself a Legendary.

Latias and Latios

Niantic are pretty good at bringing back potential shiny Pokémon you may have missed, and this weekend sees the return of Latias and Latios, the Eon Pokémon. From Friday 24th January at 1pm, until Monday 27th January at 1pm (PST time), you’ll be able to encounter Latias and Latios in T5 raids. If you’re lucky, you might see a shiny form of these Pokémon, with Latios being green and Latias being gold.

As Latios and Latias are both joint Dragon and Psychic types, your best bet in terms of counters will be to go in with strong Dragon types yourself. If you have Dialgas, Palkias, Rayquazas, Garchomps or Dragonites with double Dragon type movesets, such as Dragon Tail/Outrage or Dragon Breath/Draco Meteor, these are your go to guys. Ice types such as Mamoswine and Giratinas with Ghost moves are also good choices, and you can even use Latios and Latias against themselves with solid results.

Be wary of what movesets the bosses have before you pick your team though, because your Dragons will take a beating from Latias’ Outrage, and Latios’ Solarbeam hits everything hard. If it does have Solarbeam, stay away from anything with a Ground type, such as Tyranitar or the aforementioned Garchomp.

A group of at least 4 with strong counters should be enough for you to take either of these Dragons down, but be wary of Latias’ strong Defence stat, which will make the fight that bit longer.
