Pokémon GO Fest 2021 – Everything You Should Know

Kicks off this July.

Go Fest 2021
Go Fest 2021

Pokémon GO Fest 2020 was a little different last year. Instead of seeing the event happen in one location like previous years, Go Fest 2020 allowed players to purchase a ticket and take part wherever they were. The two day event focused partly on catching themed Pokémon and partly on defeating Team GO Rocket, with the rewards of Shadow Mewtwo and Victini waiting at the end. With the pandemic still very much a thing this year, it seems like Pokémon GO Fest 2021 will be of a similar vein.

Here’s everything you need to know about Pokémon GO Fest 2021.

Pokémon GO Fest 2021 Dates

Go Fest 2021 will run from July 17th-18th, 2021 as a two day global event. This will mean that the ticket you purchase will activate the event for both of these days. Few details have been announced so far, but it’s likely to be a full day event each day, possibly with the hours split into different spawns like last year.

Pokémon Spawns

Again, we’ve had no official reveal on any particular Pokémon that will be featured in GO Fest, apart from the ones who are on the announcement. The Pokémon in the announcement picture are Pikachu, Woobat, Scyther, Marill and Chespin.

With no obvious link between the five Pokémon, their appearance could suggest a number of things. We could be seeing a variety of region spawns, such as Kanto, Johto and Unova. It could also be a hint to the types that might appear, with the possibility of Electric, Bug, Water, Grass, Psychic or Flying being key spawns this year.

Mythical Pokémon

GO Fest normally sees the release of a mythical Pokémon at its event, with ticketed players able to catch at the event, and everyone else receiving the opportunity usually a few months later. Go Fest 2020 saw the release of Victini, which was quite a jump forward in generations, and it seems like the hints we’ve been given suggest another Gen 5 mythical Pokémon.

With musical notes in the logo, and Niantic telling us to stay tuned, it seems the obvious guess is the musical themed mythical Meloetta. Meloetta is a Normal/Psychic or Normal/Fighting type, depending on whether it is in its Aria form or Pirouette form. Using its attack Relic song allows it to change form, but we could possibly get them as two separate Pokémon in GO, like we have with Deoxys or Giratina.

That’s about all the information Niantic have teased us with at the minute, but there’s still plenty for us to think about. Keep your eyes peeled for more news as we get it.

Pokémon GO is a downloadable mobile game that allows you to catch and trade Pokémon in the real world. Gather your friends to defeat powerful raid bosses from the comfort of your sofa, and take on the task to catch them all.
