Not content with rushing out a handful of new Galarian Pokémon recently, Niantic has decided to slow things down with this next event for Pokémon GO. A Very Slow Discovery introduces some new Galarian forms, as well as a Mega Pokémon raid debut. Here’s everything you need to know.

When Does the Event Begin and End?

The event begins on June 8th at 10am local time, and runs until June 13th at 8pm local time. During this time, there will be different wild spawns and raid bosses, as well as special field research tasks and a collection challenge.

Pokémon Spawns

In the wild, Gulpin will be spawning more frequently, as well as Slakoth, Slowpoke and Spoink, the latter three of which can appear shiny. Special spawns may appear if you’re lucky, including Vigoroth (the evolution of Slakoth) and Slowbro (the evolution of Slowpoke).

Pokémon Raids

There’ll be a whole host of new raid bosses added for this event. For tier 1 raids, which are solo-able, you’ll be able to battle Galarian Slowpoke, which is a new release, as well as Alolan Grimer, Shellder, Shinx and Timburr, all of which bar Slowpoke can be shiny. Galarian Slowpoke can then be evolved into Galarian Slowbro by having it as your buddy and then catching 30 poison type Pokémon. Tier 3 raids, which can be done either on your own or in a duo/trio depending on your levels, will include Snorlax, which can be shiny, as well as Slowking, Slaking and Toxicroak.

Mega Slowbro

There’s also a new Mega Raid boss released for this event, which is Mega Slowbro. A strong psychic/water type, you’ll need to defeat these and collect Mega Energy in order to evolve your own Mega Slowbro. Due to its duo typing, Mega Slowbro has a number of different weaknesses, including Grass, Electric and Dark, so grab your Raikou and Darkrai and head into battle.

Research and Collection challenges

Field research tasks during the event can give you rewards related to the special spawns, as well as Mega Energy to help evolve your Mega Slowbro. The Collection challenge, which will see you search out a group of Pokémon and aim to catch them all during the event, will reward you, if completed, with a Slowpoke shirt for your avatar, as well as 3000XP and 30 Ultra balls. They’ll also be an event box in the in-game store, which will include 20 Poké Balls, 10 Great Balls and a King’s Rock item.

Pokémon Go is a downloadable mobile game, where you can battle and catch Pokémon in the real world. Work together to defeat Pokémon from the comfort of your own home, in a bid to catch them all.
