PlatinumGames have launched a brand new website, teasing something involving the number 4. The “Platinum 4” teaser website, which you can access right here, simply showcases the number 4 with four Platinum star logos circling the number.
This website launch comes in the midst of a series of reports which suggested that Platinum would today be launching a Kickstarter campaign to bring the Wii U title The Wonderful 101 to PS4 and the Nintendo Switch. Of course, it’d take better detectives than us to figure out the relevance between the number 4 and The Wonderful 101, besides the 4 in PS4, so Platinum 4 is likely related to something else entirely.
Naturally, speculation has ran wild on Twitter, with theories ranging from a Drakengard 4 announcement to another Nier title. The Nier theory seems likely due to the font used and the static “glitches” that occur on the site, similar to those used in Nier: Automata. There’s even the possibility of Platinum 4 becoming a new version of the Capcom 5, in which Capcom announced five brand new games for the Nintendo Gamecube in late 2002. One such game, Viewtiful Joe, featured Hideki Kamiya as the director, who now works at PlatinumGames, so there’s the running theme there.
Personally, I’m guessing that Platinum 4 is a four player co-op game where Bayonetta, Sam Gideon from Vanquish, Raiden from Metal Gear Rising and 2B from Nier: Automata team up. I haven’t worked out the details in my head, but that’s the silly prediction I’m going with.
