Overwatch Servers Overwhelmed By Uprising Update

Some Uprising skins

Blizzard have just released “Uprising”, the latest Overwatch brawl event, but the update is proving so popular that many players are having trouble accessing any servers.

Blizzard appear to be aware of the issue affecting players, and apologised for the problems via their social media channels:

As of right now, the majority of players are having no luck finding a server, and some have been in a virtual queue for over twenty minutes.

The Uprising update is a brawl event which is similar to what we saw with last year’s Junkenstein’s Revenge: a co-op brawl where you play through Tracer’s “first mission”. Blizzard advertised the event with the following text:

“Journey seven years into the past and join a group of Overwatch agents fighting through the streets of King’s Row to quell an uprising led by Null Sector, a rogue group of omnics. Team up with your friends and play as Tracer, Torbjörn, Reinhardt, or Mercy to defeat the robots and liberate the city. There are no reinforcements. Failure is not an option. The future depends on you.”

The update will also reportedly add over one hundred new cosmetic items to the game, including that badass Genji skin that everyone loved from the recently released comic. The event is expected to run until the 1st of May, so is a limited time event–much like Junkenstein’s Revenge was.

Delays are unfortunately to be expected every time a new Overwatch update is released, but we’ll update you as soon as there’s any more official word from Blizzard and co. about expected wait times for the new event.

Have you managed to find a server yet, or, like me, are you writing articles to pass the time? What are you most looking forward to from the event? Let us know in the comments below!
