Overwatch Receives 120FPS Patch On Xbox Series X | S

3 playable modes, depending on your preference.

Overwatch

For fans of hero shooters, Overwatch is still one of the best multiplayer games you can play, even if content is drying up as Blizzard march towards the release of Overwatch 2. However, with the recent patch and limited event, PachiMarchi, Xbox Series X | S players will now be able to take full advantage of their more powerful hardware.

There’s An Xbox Series X | S Patch?

Yes, and the patch introduces 3 different visual modes to the game for Xbox Series X | S players. As you’d imagine, the Framerate option allows for 120fps support at 1440p on Xbox Series X, or 1080p on Xbox Series S. Meanwhile, the Resolution option will go up to 4K on Xbox Series X, or 1440p on the Series S. There’s also a Balanced mode, which runs at 60fps and offers a better image quality with a lower resolution (1440p/1080p on Series X | S).

Interestingly, this Overwatch patch isn’t available on the PS5, marking another multiplayer game that’s been optimised for the Xbox Series X | S and not the PS5. Warzone supports 120fps on the Xbox Series X, but not the PS5, while Rocket League developers Psyonix have commented that to bring 120fps support to the PS5 version of the game would require a “full native port”, while it’s a minor patch on Xbox Series X | S.
