One of the best parts of any nerd’s childhood was probably the satisfaction of finding the Ditto in Pokemon Snap: a simple but devilishly addictive photography game for the N64. Prepare the nostalgia train because it’s being brought back for the Wii U.

Setting you on an on-rails journey through a Pokemon safari, Pokemon Snap was one of many spin-off games inspired by the craze of yellow electric rats and purple bastard rats of the nineties. I don’t think I ever managed to snap ’em all, and even though I don’t own a Wii U, I am tempted to give it a go again now I’m supposedly a smarter person.
All things Pokemon have been huge since the release of Pokemon Go: the biggest app in the world right now. Although it’s a little unfinished and generally quite buggy, people have still been buying tickets for the bandwagon, leading to the announcement of a Detective Pikachu movie and dating apps eager to cash in. It hasn’t been without its detractors, but it looks like the re-emergence of the Pokemon phenomenon might be around for a good while yet.
