Game Nominees For The BAFTA Children’s Awards Announced

Knack 2 review
Knack II

This year’s BAFTA Children’s Awards nominees have been announced, and the nominees for gaming are four different candidates.

Everybody’s Golf
Frantics
Knack 2
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle

That’s right, Knack 2 has officially been nominated for a BAFTA, despite this decision making little sense for many. When Jimmy reviewed it, he gave the game a 7.5/10, saying that it’s “a drastic improvement over the original”, but is let down by its “weak story and limp characters”. However, Jimmy also mentioned something that is very important considering the award we’re talking about is the BAFTA Children’s Award: “Knack 2 has been developed to appeal to children and it surely will.”

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was probably the most obvious pick for the four, due to it being such a hit when it released in August last year. Frantics is a PS4 title released for PlayLink, a mechanic that hasn’t really hit it off with PlayStation fans yet. Everybody’s Golf is another PlayStation title that released in September 2017, the long-awaited newest entry to the franchise.

That means that in total, three out of the four choices were published by SIE, and only one of them was published by a different company, Ubisoft. It’s a pretty good year for Sony to win awards, from God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man being praised by many and no doubt being some people’s Game of the Year favourite, to taking up three out of the four BAFTA nominee slots.
