You know what they say about buses: you wait around for one and then two of them come along at once to reaffirm your love for the gaming industry. Or something like that.

Hot off the heels of Metroid Prime 4, Nintendo revealed a new side-scrolling for the DS, Metroid: Samus Returns.

Well, new of sorts. It’s a remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus with some modern mechanics chucked into the mix. Still, two Metroid games! We’re feeling faint.

It arrives exclusively for the DS and is being developed by Spanish studio MercurySteam, who you may know for their work on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

“Metroid: Samus Returns is an action-packed, side-scrolling shooter which has been remade to include engaging and immersive 3D visuals and a rich, atmospheric color palette. Metroid: Samus Returns launches September 15, 2017.”
