Amazon Drops Eerie New Trailer For Suspiria Remake

Suspiria remake

Dario Argento’s 1977 giallo film Suspiria is one of the most beloved horror movies of all time, and it’s getting a remake this year. The film follows a young American dancer, played in the remake by Dakota Johnson, who goes to a prestigious ballet academy in Germany where student disappearances and other bizarre goings-on compel her to investigate the academy’s dark history.

Amazon Studios just dropped a trailer for the film, which is being directed and produced by Luca Guadagnino, the acclaimed director of last year’s Call Me By Your Name. In addition to Johnson, the film stars Tilda Swinton and Chloë Grace Moretz, as well as Jennifer Harper, star of the original Suspiria, in a supporting role. Thom Yorke of Radiohead has provided the score for the film, which is featured prominently and effectively in the new trailer.

The original Suspiria is well known for its distinctively eerie prog-rock score and vibrant visual style. It seems like Guadagnino is taking his version in a different direction, with an understated color palette and a more traditional soundtrack, but the trailer definitely delivers an intriguing and ultra-tense first look at the upcoming film.

Watch the new trailer for Suspiria, which is scheduled for release on November 2.
