Dotemu, Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games have announced that Street of Rage 4, their sequel/revival of the popular beat ’em up series, has managed to accrue 1.5 million downloads across PC, PS4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch, which is hugely successful for a beat ’em up. No doubt, the game’s success was buoyed somewhat by the game’s presence on Xbox Game Pass.

Cyrille Imbert, an executive producer on Streets of Rage 4, said the following about the game’s success in a press release, which was also shared via this blog post: “We couldn’t be happier with the reception of Streets of Rage 4. We thank the fans who have supported the game from day one – a lot of the updates in the patch enhance the replay value for folks who have been with us from the start, additional updates are currently in production and we’ll have more to share on that soon.”

In order to celebrate this news of 1.5 million downloads, the developers have released a brand new balance patch on all platforms, bringing with it a range of improvements and changes to the game. While you can catch a glimpse of the notes at the blog post link shared above, some highlights include massive buffs to both Axel and Cherry, special moves being able to interrupt hitstun states and more. There have also been changes to both enemies and the level designs as a whole, with some new item placements.
