New Soulcalibur VI Antagonist Azwel Revealed

Soulcalibur VI

We might be a little slow on the uptake with this one as it was announced over the bank holiday weekend, but Bandai Namco have officially revealed the new character Azwel for Soulcalibur VI, who you might remember as the big evil bad lad from the Libra of Soul trailer that debuted at Gamescom.

In his new gameplay trailer, which you can check out below, Azwel bares some similarities to another Soulcalibur bad guy, Algol, who could also manifest weapons from his hands to carve up his competition. Azwel appears to take this one step further, being able to summon hundreds of swords during his Critical Edge like he’s Noctis on steroids. He also has a fantastic looking backbreaker command grab where he plucks opponents from the air, so naturally I want to play as him right now.

Interestingly, the trailer concludes with a look at a demonic version of Azwel, which could either be a version of the character who uses a Soul Charge, similar to how Kilik becomes a big demon lad during his Soul Charge, or an unplayable final boss version that’ll appear during the climax of the Libra of Soul mode.

Soulcalibur VI will be out on October 19th for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Are you excited? Let us know in the comments.
