GOW Ragnarok New Games November 2022
GOW Ragnarok New Games November 2022

We’re already approaching November 2022, or in November now depending on when you’re reading this, and if previous months in this year are anything to go by, we’re about to blink and it’ll already be 2023. If you’re actually able to stop and take a breath though, you’ll realise that there’s plenty of huge gaming releases coming your way this November. Some are even available right now, if you count Football Manager 2023’s early access release.

While for a lot of people, there’s probably only one big game coming out in November worth caring about, there’s actually quite a good amount of games from across various genres that should appeal to pretty much everyone. If there isn’t a game you’re interested in from this list, maybe you’re just a bit too hard to please. Sorry, but it’s true. Here are the biggest new games of November 2022 that you should be excited about across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X & S, and Switch.

New Games Of November 2022

The Chant | November 3rd, 2022

The Chant
The Chant

Developer: Brass Token
Publisher: Prime Matter
Platform(s): PC, PS5, Xbox Series X & S

Imagine attending a new age retreat on a remote island, with the hopes of seeking help for some issues that have plagued you for years, only for a group chant to awaken a portal to another dimension filled with creatures hoping to feast on your negative energy. We’ve all been there, right? That’s the premise of The Chant, which sees main character Jessica Briars facing the worst day of her life after accepting an invite from her childhood friend.

As Jess, you’ll explore the island and confront cosmic horrors from another dimensions. As you explore, you’ll interact with the other members of the island retreat, and you’ll need to do your best to manage their fears as the situation around you becomes more desperate. Thankfully, the awakened portal also means you’ll be given access to a host of powers and abilities to make survival that much more possible.

Harvestella | November 4th, 2022

Harvestella
Harvestella

Developer: Square Enix, Live Wire Inc.
Publisher: Square Enix
Platform(s): PC, Switch

The first rule of cozy farming games is that you can never have enough cozy farming games, and while Harvestella has all the trimmings of a game where you can sit on a farm, talk to villagers and earn some cash, there’s also a traditional RPG adventure to embark on too. This is a Square Enix game after all, so of course there had to be some element of teenagers saving the world. It wouldn’t feel right without it.

Harvestella’s world is governed by four giant crystals referred to as Seaslight, and these four crystals work together in harmony to govern the four seasons. Unfortunately, the season of death known as Quietus has now emerged, and each year the season gets longer and longer. As lead protagonist Ein, you’ll embark on a quest to see if there’s a way to stop Quietus, using your exploits on the farm to fund your adventure. Farming sims might not be for everyone, but Harvestella is undeniably one of the biggest games of November 2022.

Sonic Frontiers | November 8th, 2022

Sonic Frontiers
Sonic Frontiers

Developer: Sonic Team
Publisher: SEGA
Platform(s): PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X & S, Switch

SEGA’s iconic azure mascot hasn’t had the most consistent form when it comes to his modern video games, with pretty much all of them landing across the entire spectrum of quality. Some are good, like Sonic Colours, some are even great like Sonic Mania, but then every so often there’s a game like Sonic Rush: Rise of Lyric that’s just utterly abysmal. Somehow, there’s even games like Sonic Unleashed, which manage to be all 3 at once.

Sonic Frontiers could be SEGA’s biggest opportunity yet to set a new standard of quality for 3D Sonic titles that hasn’t been matched since the days of Sonic Adventure. Frontiers is an open-world Sonic game that sees the blue blur travelling across mysterious islands, rescuing his friends and gathering Chaos Emeralds along the way. There’s a lot about Frontiers which is new, but a lot that’s familiar too, and hopefully the mix will lead to an all-time great Sonic game.

God of War: Ragnarok | November 9th, 2022

God Of War Ragnarok
God Of War Ragnarok

Developer: Sony Santa Monica
Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment
Platform(s): PS4, PS5

Arguably the most anticipated sequel of all-time, God of War: Ragnarok looks to be more of what the 2018 reboot/sequel offered in terms of gameplay, only with the ambition and story turned up to 11 for good measure. If trying to put a stop to the Norse apocalypse sounds like your idea of a good time, then God of War Ragnarok is undoubtedly going to be one of the best games of the year. Whether it beats Elden Ring in the gaming awards shows though is another story.

God of War: Ragnarok once again follows Kratos and Atreus as they travel through the nine realms to try and find some kind of method to prevent Ragnarok from occurring. It’s a task that’ll prove to be difficult for the duo, as Atreus grapples with his godhood while becoming a teenager. Meanwhile, the two are also being hunted down by Thor and Freya, but if anyone can handle being considered a threat, it’s the former God of War himself.

Pentiment | November 15th, 2022

Pentiment
Pentiment

Developer: Obsidian Entertainment
Publisher: Xbox Game Studios
Platform(s): PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X & S

When Xbox purchased Obsidian Entertainment, many players were likely hoping for a return of titles like Fallout: New Vegas or even Alpha Protocol. Instead, Obsidian have swerved everyone by releasing Pentiment, a narrative RPG set in 16th century Bavaria that might just offer one of the most compelling murder mysteries in gaming history. In fact, it’s one that might not ever be solved.

Pentiment casts players in the role of Andreas Maler, a veteran painter and artist who is roped into a murder investigation that’s being blamed on one of his friends. The story takes place over the course of 25 years, and Pentiment will never give you an canonical answer as to who the murderer is. It’s up to you to go on the journey, meet the various characters and suspects and decide who you think is most likely to have committed the murder. Or, you could just accuse the character you hate the most.

Goat Simulator 3 | November 17th, 2022

Goat Simulator 3
Goat Simulator 3

Developer: Coffee Stain
Publisher: Coffee Stain
Platform(s): PC, PS5, Xbox Series X & S

Is it wrong to be excited about a silly little game like Goat Simulator 3? It’s probably not going to be played for more than a couple of hours at most for a lot of players, but the amount of laughs and chuckles you’ll be able to pack into those short hours is probably going to be more than most games could ever hope for. This’ll be especially true if you manage to grab three friends to play with, as the chaos is going to be ridiculous.

Goat Simulator 3, which skipped the second entry if you were wondering, sees up to four carnage loving goats descending onto the fictional island of San Angora to cause as much mayhem as possible. If you’re looking for a bit of disposable fun this November, you could probably do a lot worse than Goat Simulator 3. Will it be the biggest game of November? Probably not, but it’ll be a barrel of laughs all the same.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me | November 18th, 2022

The Devil In Me
The Devil In Me

Developer: Supermassive Games
Publisher: Bandai Namco
Platform(s): PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X & S

The Dark Pictures Anthology has been quietly killing it when it comes to offering horror with a twist of narrative choice. With three games under the series’ belt already, Supermassive Games are switching up the formula somewhat with The Devil In Me, which is also being billed as the season one finale for The DPA. If you’ve been keeping up with The Dark Pictures Anthology, you probably won’t want to miss this one.

The Devil In Me sees a group of documentary film-makers go for a stay at a replica of serial killer H.H. Holmes’ so-called “Murder Castle”. While this might sound like an easy win for the budding documentarians, but before long, they find themselves being watched and manipulated by a serial killer looking to make their own name for themselves. With more puzzle solving and greater movement options during gameplay, The Devil In Me could be the best Dark Pictures game yet.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet | November 18th, 2022

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet story
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet story

Developer: Game Freak
Publisher: Nintendo, The Pokemon Company
Platform(s): Switch

A new mainline Pokémon is always a momentous event, and Scarlet and Violet in particular look like they’re going to be the start of a new era for the Pokémon series. The ninth generation promises a lot of change for the world of Pokémon, and the most significant of those is the introduction of an open world. Sure, Arceus had a somewhat open world, but Scarlet and Violet is going even bigger.

Set in the Paldea region, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet splits the game’s story across three distinct paths. Starfall Street sees you facing off with a group of rebellious punks called Team Star, while Path of Legends is all about seeking out a legendary phenomenon called the “Herba Mystica”. There’s also the traditional Victory Road, where you seek to conquer 8 gyms, but now you can even tackle them in any order. Let’s be honest, the Switch will probably struggle with it, but it’s great to see Pokémon evolve in this way.

Evil West | November 22nd, 2022

Evil West
Evil West

Developer: Flying Wild Hog
Publisher: Focus Entertainment
Platform(s): PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X & S

Combining the Wild West with the supernatural is an aesthetic that quite frankly should be explored a lot more, so it’s no surprise that Evil West is on our radar as one of the biggest new games of November 2022. The fact that it’s coming from Flying Wild Hog, the folks responsible for incredible action games like Hard Reset and the Shadow Warrior reboot trilogy, only makes us more excited for the potential of Evil West.

Evil West sees players controlling Jesse Rentier, one of the last surviving members of a vampire hunting organisation, who seeks to protect the American frontier from a host of supernatural threats. Naturally, he finds himself embroiled in a vampire plot, but Jesse possesses the tools and skills necessary to survive. Despite being a third-person shooter, Evil West has a melee combat focus too, with inspiration taken from both God of War and even Devil May Cry. If you’re an action game fan, keep tabs on this one.

Gungrave G.O.R.E. | November 22nd, 2022

Gungrave G.O.R.E.
Gungrave G.O.R.E.

Developer: Iggymob
Publisher: Prime Matter
Platform(s): PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X & S

Fans of edgy PS2 shooters are going to be eating good in November when Gungrave G.O.R.E. launches. After two games launched on the PS2 in the early to mid-2000s, Gungrave dropped off the face of the earth for a while until it was revived by Iggymob in the late 2010s as a VR title. That game served as a prequel to Gungrave G.O.R.E., which looks set to revive the series outright.

Gungrave G.O.R.E. follows undead assassin Beyond The Grave (yeah, that’s his actual name) as he cuts a bloody swathe through the criminal underworld in the only way he knows how: with a metric tonne of bullets. Gungrave G.O.R.E. is designed to feel like an intentional old school shooter, but hopefully it’ll take on board the near two decades worth of game development experience in the meantime to create a great blend of old and new.

Warhammer 40K: Darktide | November 30th, 2022

Warhammer 40K - Darktide
Warhammer 40K – Darktide

Developer: Fatshark
Publisher: Fatshark
Platform(s): PC (Xbox Series X & S release coming “shortly afterwards”)

Fatshark have made a name for themselves when it comes to first person horde shooters that take their cues from Left 4 Dead, as their work on Warhammer: Vermintide and Vermintide 2 has shown. Of course, it was only going to be a matter of time before they took their expertise over to the grimdark world of Warhammer 40K, and while you might consider Darktide to be a futuristic clone of Vermintide, Darktide builds on the formula even further.

Don’t get it twisted, you’ll still be mowing down hordes of enemies, but there’s more to Darktide, such as the character creator and the ability to choose from one of four classes. Missions, loot and progression have all been fleshed out, which should hopefully keep players coming back for return missions, and there’s promise of an evolving story too. If gunning down the forces of Chaos is your idea of a good time, look no further than Darktide.
