It’s that time of year again, already. When the summer festivals start stretching their legs proper and flexing their muscles some. Showing off a little bit of their beach body in preparation for the summer, today we have the brash brothers of festival season Reading & Leeds announcing their second set of headliners and a whole host of new bands for the line-up.

You’ll note that I said ‘set of headliners’ just then, and that’s because we’ve got a co-headline situation going on here with both Foals and Disclosure being announced. The usual procedure with co-headliners at Reading & Leeds is that one’ll get top billing at one location and the other at the other. Straightforward enough really. No clue as to who’ll have where yet, though.

With a lot of complaints being aimed in the direction of the big summer festivals these days, in relation to their always relying on the same pool of big bands for headliners, Foals and Disclosure will be making the headlining debuts this summer. Though, I guess R&L didn’t quite trust the ‘newbies’ enough to give them their own headline slots proper, even though both have headlined other festivals previously, and Foals are regulars at the festivals anyway. However, it’s a start and it’s sure to see both acts going full on, flat out, and giving it their all.

Anyway, as said, there’s a whole host of other acts announced, and with the reliable variety that Reading & Leeds always provide being in evidence, there’s plenty to get excited about already.
