Now that the first season’s all done, it’s time to step back and see how much has Netflix’s One Piece adapted so far. They may not have gone that far into the plot yet, but they’ve gone unexpectedly far into winning the hearts of One Piece fans new and old.

If you haven’t seen Netflix’s One Piece yet, you should. It’s a surprisingly good live-action adaptation. But for now, this article will try to avoid any major spoilers for Season 1. A lot of people may want to watch it but haven’t seen or read the One Piece anime and manga before, so go and clear it off your watchlist then come back here if you haven’t found time for it yet.

Netflix’s One Piece: Season 1 Arcs

In its eight-episode run, Netflix’s One Piece: Season 1 adapted the entirety of the East Blue Saga.

Here’s the list of arcs adapted by Netflix’s One Piece: Season 1. Keep in mind that while the live-action show is mostly faithful to the manga, there are some differences. The arcs don’t necessarily fit neatly into the episodes. They sort of blend together at times. The list below shows a representation of which episodes cover which arcs. However, a scene from one arc in the manga might occasionally show up in a different episode.

  • Romance Dawn Arc – Episode 1

This is the arc that introduces us to Monkey D. Luffy, an aspiring pirate. He meets two of his first crewmates here, Zoro and Nami.

  • Orange Town Arc – Episode 2

Luffy and his friends get trapped on an island ruled by Buggy, the clown pirate.

  • Syrup Village Arc – Episodes 3-4

This is the arc where Luffy meets Usopp, their next crew member. They work together to help Usopp’s friend Kaya.

  • Baratie Arc – Episodes 5-6

Luffy meets Sanji, their fifth crew member. However, it seems that one of the members might not be staying for long.

  • Arlong Park Arc – Episodes 7-8

This arc dives deep into Nami’s past. Luffy and his crew travel to Coco Village and challenge Arlong for its freedom.

  • Loguetown Arc – Episode 8

Instead of an arc, this turned out to be the final scene of the Arlong Park Arc and the season. It showed Luffy and his crew stopping in Loguetown before heading off for the Grand Line.

All in all, Netflix’s One Piece: Season 1 has adapted 6 arcs or exactly 100 chapters of the manga. There are still 32 arcs or 950+ chapters left. Get ready for the long haul.

As you may or may not know, the One Piece manga and anime are still ongoing. The manga currently has more than 1050 chapters packed into 105 volumes. The anime now has over 1030 episodes and dozens of movies, specials, and OVAs.

How Much Could Netflix’s One Piece: Season 2 Adapt?

There are a few possibilities for One Piece: Season 2, depending on how Netflix and Tomorrow Studios go about it.

If they stick to adapting one saga, then Season 2 should cover the Arabasta Saga and all its arcs. This is the most likely possibility. It makes sense to have the season cover the entire saga and wrap it up completely.

If they instead decide to only adapt another hundred chapters, then they would stop just short of finishing the Arabasta Saga. Season 2 would end in the middle of the final arc if this were the case. They could possibly do this to end on a cliffhanger.
