Neill Blomkamp Directing A Live-Action Anthem Short

Conviction will be out tomorrow.

Anthem

Neill Blomkamp, the sci-fi director behind such hits as Chappie, Elysium and, perhaps most notably, District 9, will be releasing a live-action short film set in the Anthem universe. It’s called Conviction, and will explore the world of Anthem decades before the events of the main game. No word yet on whether or not the short film will contain some “fookin’ prawns”, but we feel like the crossover potential here is huge.

The short is scheduled to go live at 7:30am PT, 10:30am ET, 3:30pm GMT tomorrow at the link below on Neill’s YouTube channel Oats Studios, but if you feel like that’s too much of a wait, there’s a brief teaser available right here.

In a press release about the short, director Blomkamp said: “Conviction sets the stage with a narrative that touches on Anthem’s beautiful and immersive world, which is ripe for exploration by these powerful Javelins. A world where danger is lurking on every ledge and in each valley.”

Blomkamp isn’t a stranger to video game live action shorts, as he directed the great Halo Landfall short, two years before the release of District 9. Seems like he was tapped for greatness long before we saw the tragic story of Wikus. We’ve every faith that Conviction will be another big hit for the director.
