Whether or not you’re an anime fan, you’ve heard of Naruto. The show’s fame has transcended anime, making it one of the most well-known pieces of modern fiction. Mention the golden-haired ninja’s name to anybody, and chances are, they’d recognize him.
It’s no surprise at all that when you’re new to anime, this will be one of the top recommendations. It’s also no surprise that with almost a thousand episodes, and counting, watching it can be a little daunting and you might not know where to start. Well then, this Naruto watch order is just the thing to help you get started.
And no, the short animation/trailer of Fortnite Naruto is not included.

Are The Naruto Movies Canon/Necessary?
Though the Naruto watch order can be intimidating, not all of it is necessary for a new viewer.
Are the movies canon? Do they really occur in the main Naruto universe? If you’re looking for a quicker watch order then you’d be glad to hear that only 2 of the movies are actually cannon.
Only The Last: Naruto the Movie and Boruto: Naruto the Movie have any direct input from Masashi Kishimoto, Naruto’s creator. Only these 2 actually have any bearing on the main story and you only need to watch these if you’re not interested in the non-canon stuff.
You can also take out the Rock Lee spinoff since it’s just a fun little chibi animation.
Where Can You Watch Naruto?
Being one of the most well-known and beloved franchises in the world has its perks. It’s available on tons of streaming platforms.
You can watch Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, and Boruto on Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll, Amazon Prime, and Funimation just to name a few. Though note that for some streaming services, like Netflix, Naruto might not be available in your region and you’ll have to use a VPN to access it first.
The movies, however, are a little more spread out. You can find most of them on Netflix except for these three:
- Naruto Shippuden The Movie: Road to Ninja – Crunchyroll
- The Last: Naruto the Movie – Crunchyroll
- Boruto: Naruto the Movie – Vudu
Alternatively, you could also keep them on Blu-ray if you want to have a physical copy. And if you want more ninja action afterwards, there are plenty of shows like Naruto worth checking out.
