As part of the company’s recent financial year results, Capcom have revealed that Monster Hunter: World is officially their best selling game of all time, with over 12 million copies shipped across PS4, Xbox One and PC. That’s means that it’s beat the likes of Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry and more.

Meanwhile, 2019 releases such as Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry V have shipped 4 million and 2 million copies respectively. It’s definitely been a successful 18 months for Capcom, as they’ve managed to record a pre-tax profit of 18 billion yen for the last financial year, which works out to around $164m. For reference, that’s a 13% increase in profit over the previous year.

The statement from Capcom also outlines their desire to improve the corporate culture at Capcom, improving relations and reducing crunch; areas that have come under intense scrutiny in recent months:

“As part of measures to promote work-life balance and reduce any instances of excessive working hours, the company has endeavored to improve and maintain employee health by encouraging employees to take paid leave and through holding nine safety and health committee meetings every month.

“The company is also working to create an environment with child-rearing support and other initiatives, including on-site childcare facilities, which will empower employees to pursue their careers actively. At the same time, it will seek to foster a corporate culture that provides job satisfaction in order to secure and leverage outstanding talent.”

Capcom’s future definitely look as promising as their past year, with Devil May Cry coming to the Switch this Summer, along with the Iceborne update for Monster Hunter: World set for the end of the year. More immediately, Capcom will be holding a livestream this Thursday at 4pm PT/7pm ET that’ll reveal a Spring Update.
