Though she may be a cover star for Marvel’s Midnight Suns, players are going to have to wait a long time until they unlock Scarlet Witch and actually get to use her in-game. Thanks to Lilith’s corruption early on in the story, she basically starts off as your enemy and becomes Fallen Scarlet Witch.
Players first face off against Fallen Scarlet Witch in the Sneaking Out mission, in which Hunter teams up with Magik and Nico after accidentally going through a portal.
Surprisingly, Scarlet Witch isn’t too tough a challenge in this encounter, as the environment can do a lot of your damage for you, especially if you keep using Magik’s portals to knock her around and give her debuffs like vulnerable and weak. The only real issue with this fight is that she can cause confuse, which makes one of your characters use a card without your say so every other card play in a turn. However, if you redraw the cards for the afflicted hero, you can limit the amount of annoyance.
However, after you defeat Fallen Scarlet Witch, she doesn’t rejoin your team. Instead, you must wait for quite a few hours more of gameplay and story progression before she rejoins the Suns again.
To unlock Scarlet Witch in Marvel’s Midnight Suns, players must complete the Skin Deep story mission around 35-40 hours into the game, depending on how much of the side content you complete. Talk to Nico beforehand and she will tell you an incantation, then on the mission itself, down Fallen Scarlet Witch three times and purify her with a special card three times to complete the mission. The special card also debuffs Hunter, but you can redraw it to try and lessen the effects.
When she is downed and purified for a third time, she will return to normal and follow you back to the Abbey. Simply chat to her when she’s back home and you will add her to your team.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X & S.
