Madden NFL 17 Predicted Patriots’ Super Bowl Comeback

Madden NFL Super Bowl

This isn’t quite up there with the squid who can see into the future, but it’s still pretty cool that a video game could fairly accurately predict the outcome of this year’s Super Bowl.

The New England Patriots looked dead in the water at half-time last night. They were trailing by a few touchdowns and their QB, Tom Brady, was all over the place, failing to make the simple things come off. That all quickly changed, which forced the game into overtime before the Patriots were able to down the Falcons 34-28 and cap off a remarkable fifth title.

EA were on track to be wrong for the second year in a row with their Madden NFL 17 simulation as they had plucked for Carolina Panthers last year only for Denver Broncos to take it, which surprised plenty of people. Just like in the real thing, however, digital Brady shook off the rust in his throwing arm and led Patriots to a 27-24 comeback.

We reviewed Madden NFL 17 before release and found that it was an excellent simulation – if we had known then that it could see into the future, we may have even scored it higher. However, although we haven’t noticed anything in our playtime, the game has been beset by plenty of bugs and issues, so bear that in mind before you take a closer look.
