Welcome one and all to San Diego Comic Con 2016, kicking off this year with a trailer for Marvel’s Luke Cage. The series, which we now know will premiere on Netflix on September 30, got its first teaser last night – putting its star Mike Colter front and centre.

From what we saw it looks like Luke Cage is going to have that same earthy, street level feel as Jessica Jones and Daredevil. Superpowering his way through the hide out of a bunch of thugs, Luke and his sidekick (a car door) pummel people down corridors and kick doors through like sandcastles.

Once again though, Marvel seem to have found Luke Cage an identity of its own, distinct from its sister shows on Netflix. The music, lighting and Aesthetic looks to be all its own – and for now will have to be a substitute for the trailer’s clear lack of story hints. Beyond Cage going around Harlem and beating on bad guys this series is keeping it’s plot very close to its chest.

It has been confirmed Rosario Dawson will make another appearance as nurse Claire Temple, following on from her role in Daredevil and cameo in Jessica Jones. Other than this, we’ll have to settle for guessing until the next trailer drops some time before the end of September.
