Loot Boxes Might Be Gambling, Says Sweden

We already have loot boxes in two many games, with Middle-Earth: Shadow of War and Star Wars: Battlefront II being the latest examples as to how greedy loot boxes are.

Thankfully, after Belgium recently started investigating loot boxes, Sweden is joining in, too. They want to see where to place loot boxes in gaming, which still seems to be a grey zone for many.

Ardalan Shekarabi, the Minister of Civil Affairs in Sweden has said that “We are working to regain control of the gaming market as soon as possible and ensure that Swedish consumer protection rules apply to all actors involved in gaming.”, according to P3 News.

The Swedish government seems to be working on a new legislation that they want to bring into power by January 2019, which can regulate the use of lotteries in video games. They seem hopeful about having the loot boxes classified as gambling in such a short time.
