Legacies: Season 5 – What You Should Know

Legacies
Legacies

Legacies is a spin-off of the popular series The Vampire Diaries. It focuses on Hope Mikaelson, the daughter of Niklaus Mikaelson, the main character from The Originals. The Season 4 finale tied a lot of loose ends, the biggest one being Klaus finally finding Peace as he wishes Hope the best for her future. But what exactly is that future? Legacies: Season 5?

Here’s what you should know about Legacies: Season 5 or whatever the future of Mystic Falls has in store.

When Is Legacies: Season 5 Being Released?

Legacies: Season 4 was revealed to be the final season, so Legacies: Season 5 is not coming. The CW has taken down a huge number of its shows, including In The Dark, Batwoman, and Legends Of Tomorrow. Legacies: Season 5 is simply another casualty.

All of these sudden cancellations were caused by The CW preparing to transition to a different ownership. Nexstar Media Group bought The CW in 2022. The CW unfortunately had to shelve ten of its shows as a result.

Fortunately, Julie Plec, co-creator of the entire Vampire Diaries world, has already mentioned a sequel. In an interview, she said “There will be another one” although a release date hasn’t been specified yet. It’s probably safe to assume that it won’t be coming to The CW too.

Will The Cast Return For Legacies: Season 5?

It’s upsetting for fans that Legacies: Season 5 got canceled, but it’s not the end for the actors. There’s more than one show to watch your favorite stars on. Here’s what some of Legacies’ cast members are currently up to.

  • Danielle Rose Russell (Hope Mikaelson) unfortunately doesn’t have anything lined up for now. Hope from Legacies and The Originals are her most recent roles. You can also catch her in her past films like Measure Of A Man, Pandemic, and Wonder.
  • Aria Shahghasemi (Landon Kirby) will be starring in a heist mini-series called The Snag.
  • Kaylee Bryant (Josie Saltzman) is going to play a role in an upcoming horror film called Spin The Bottle and a short called Jackpot.
  • Chris Lee (Kaleb Hawkins) has landed a role in a film called Single Car Crashes.
  • Ben Levin (Jed Tien) may not have any upcoming film roles, but he does have a role in an upcoming video game. He will be in a 2D action-adventure game called Evolutis: Duality.

Some of these actors may reprise their roles in the potential sequel, but until more details surface, there’s no telling.

What Could Legacies: Season 5 Be About?

Ever since Julie Plec mentioned a potential sequel, no other news about it has risen. There are several possibilities for Legacies: Season 5/the sequel, so here are a couple to ponder on.

One obvious route they can take is to continue Hope’s journey. Klaus hinted at her future not being all sunshine and butterflies. The life of a Tribrid will always have some excitement. Seeing an older Hope take on darker forces definitely has some great potential.

Another possibility is to move on from Hope’s story entirely. The finale of Season 4 does give Hope’s story a nice and clean ending. The sequel could do what Legacies did and become a story about the next generation of supernatural beings. Or maybe they could do what The Originals did and stick to the same generation but focus on a different character.
