In The Dark: Season 5 – What You Should Know

In the Dark Season 5
In the Dark Season 5

Daredevil isn’t the only blind crime-solving protagonist — In The Dark’s Murphy Mason is another you should keep an eye on. No pun intended. It all starts with the disappearance of a friend. The next thing she knows, Murphy’s in the middle of a series of crimes involving drug dealings, scams, and murders. The plot has been building all the way up to In The Dark: Season 5. Or has it?

However rushed it may have felt, Season 4 ended with a bang as Murphy seemingly gets revenge for Max Parish. Is it over then? Murphy isn’t really in a good place despite the finale, so does her story really end there? Here’s what you should know about In The Dark: Season 5.

When Is In The Dark: Season 5 Being Released?

Unfortunately, In The Dark: Season 5 has been canceled by The CW. It’s not because the show was badly received; it’s why the show even lasted five seasons. The CW has been canceling its shows left and right since its 2022 managerial change.

In late 2022, Nexstar Media Group acquired The CW. Prior to this acquisition, The CW canceled ten shows to prepare for the transition. That’s three times their average number of annual cancellations. The company had to make tough financial decisions and unfortunately, In The Dark didn’t make the cut.

Other than In The Dark, The CW also canceled Batwoman, Legends of Tomorrow, and Charmed, to name a few.

Would The Cast Return For In The Dark: Season 5?

Until more news surfaces, In The Dark: Season 5 is basically not happening. So, unfortunately, the cast will not be coming back.

Of course, it’s not the end of their careers. A lot of the stars from In The Dark have other upcoming projects you can look forward to. Whether it’s movies, shows, live-action, or animation, here’s what some of the key cast members are up to.

Perry Mattfeld (Murphy Mason) has a currently unnamed role in an upcoming film called The Idea Of You.

Morgan Krantz (Felix Bell) will be playing a role in an upcoming film called Annie On The Run and a short film called The Pillar Method.

Casey Deidrick (Max Parish) doesn’t have any upcoming projects, but he just got done with one. He played Ryan in Wedding Season, which came out on June 3, 2023.

Theodore Bhat (Josh Wallace) will be in an American war drama titled Masters Of The Air.

Rich Sommer (Dean Riley) will play a role in the upcoming sports miniseries The Sterling Affairs.

Keston John (Darnell James), who also played Tarsem in James Cameron’s Avatar movies, will be returning for three more Avatar movies. Other than that, Keston will also be in an upcoming TV series called Obliterated.

What Could In The Dark: Season 5 Be About?

Despite In The Dark: Season 5’s cancellation, it’s inevitable to think about what could have been. Because of the abrupt cancellation, a different ending was already in place. Corinne Kingsbury said in an interview with TVLine that they already “wrote and shot two endings, one with a cliffhanger, and one that wraps up our series in a satisfying way.”

One could only guess what the cliffhanger ending could have been. Maybe in the alternate ending, Max doesn’t die, and something else major happens. A villain reveal or an entirely new problem. Or, if Max still dies, the ending would have just revealed Josh as the main culprit and have them deal with him in In The Dark: Season 5.

Maybe In The Dark: Season 5 could go the Snowpiercer: Season 4 route and find a different platform to air in. Never say die, right?
