The Last Jedi Update Now Available For Star Wars Battlefront II

Battlefront 2

The hype for Star Wars: The Last Jedi is reaching a fever pitch, with the worldwide release of the movie tomorrow and critics throwing heaps of praise towards it. Of course, if you can’t wait until tomorrow, perhaps you should play Star Wars Battlefront 2, as The Last Jedi update launches today.

The update is the first significant free update to the game since launch, providing both a ton of content and some much needed changes. Firstly, the update includes a few new chapters to the game’s story mode based on the new film. No need to worry about spoilers too much, but Battlefront II writer Mitch Dyer recommends playing the game after watching the movie if you haven’t seen the trailers.

The update also boasts two new heroes, Finn and Captain Phasma, two new locations in the form of Crait and D’Qar, and two new hero ships. Well, one new hero ship, the Tallie Lintra, and an upgrade to Poe’s ship. Lastly, the update brings some significant changes to balancing, with Lando, Chewbacca and Palpatine getting some buffs. The controversial star cards have also been tweaked so that all players start with 3 common star cards for all trooper classes, and all three slots are unlocked right away. Hopefully, this should reduce the gap between new players and veterans with massively upgraded cards. You’ll find the full list of changes here.

Whether or not this update will be enough to improve sales of Battlefront II remains to be seen, but analysts have dropped the profit estimates for EA due to the game, and the controversy that has surrounded it. NPD Sales Data noted that Battlefront II’s sales were down 52% on the first game, and in the UK it was 62%. With the amount of backlash from the community due to microtransactions and the like, this was to be expected.
