Korn Are Doing An In-Game Concert In AdventureQuest. No, Really.

2019 is WILD.

Korn

Here’s the perfect Friday story for you all: the American Nu-Metal band Korn are playing a free virtual concert in the MMO games AdventureQuest 3D and AdventureQuest Worlds, two games I’d only heard about when I heard about this story (thanks, VG24/7).

AdventureQuest’s developers Artix Entertainment announced that the concert will kick off on August 20th, with the band playing a new song from their upcoming 13th studio album The Nothing which will be available on September 13th, though I’m wondering if they’ll pull any more songs out. Fingers crossed for Clown, Shoots And Ladders, Right Now and Here To Stay, amongst other angsty hits. Who needs Marshmello and Fortnite when you can kill monsters and earn loot in a virtual mosh pit?

In order to get involved with the concert, you simply have to make a new account on either game and complete the tutorial, after which you’ll receive an in-game ticket to the concert, while current players simply need to visit the Special Event Promoter, who will sell you a ticket for 100g. While the event is free to access, there’s a special event pack you can buy optionally which includes Korn branded items, plenty of new cosmetics, bonus quests and a backstage pass so you can take a virtual selfie with the virtual band. It’s virtually like being there.

August 20th will be opening night for the concert, but players will be able to revisit the event again for a month afterwards to earn loot or simply just rock out for a bit, but once the event is gone, it’s gone. Are you excited? Let us know in the comments which musical act you’d like to see in a video game next. Personally, I thought we peaked with Phil Collins performing In The Air Tonight as part of GTA: Vice City Stories, but there we go. Meanwhile, the flesh and blood versions of Korn are currently on-tour with the as-yet-undigitised Alice in Chains.
