Kaiju Wars Celebrates Godzilla Day With Thunderous New Features

The upcoming giant-sized turn-based strategy game stomps closer to release.

Kaiju Wars 6

November 3rd is the official anniversary of Gojira’s theatrical release, which gave the world Godzilla and the entire kaiju that followed in his titanic footsteps. Kaiju Wars, a new turn-based strategy game that takes its inspiration from the Kaiju genre, is celebrating this historic day with two features to add to its demo on Steam.

Kaiju Wars sees players squaring off against towering giant monsters, and controlling large military squads to fight back the behemoths. Within the turn-based combat, players can use their units to distract the monsters, build structures to slow down and distract them, and utilize experimental weapons like freeze rays and mechs to even the odds.

In its latest update, Kaiju Wars has added local and remote Steam hotseat mode, an extension that lets players swap controls like they’re passing the controller around from player to player, allowing for head-to-head matches. In addition, Kaiju Wars can now integrate twitch chat onscreen, so streamers playing the game for an audience can let their viewers be more visibly part of the action.

Kaiju Wars boasts a campaign mode where players will have to battle five different kaiju that mutate and evolve with each new attack. Specific units can be upgraded and strengthened over the course of the 8+ hour campaign as the mystery of the attacking kaiju unravels. Kaiju Wars also lets players design their own cities for custom encounters and share their custom maps online.

Kaiju Wars is scheduled for release in February 2022.
